Since 1981, 1287 people from 28 nations have participated in our Diploma in Bible Translation training programme (DBT).
This year we are training aspiring Bible translators from bible-less language communities in 10 countries and 19 different locations. For details check our training calendar. At present, 293 students are enrolled for the Diploma in Bible Translation course. A further 109 have attended their first taster event this year and 61 in 2018. All enrolled students represent 18 nationalities and 165 languages with Bible translation need. The great majority are involved in first-time translation of the Bible into their language or preparing to do so.
246 students from 12 different nationalities have graduated with a Diploma in Bible Translation and 8 with a Certificate in Bible Translation. The diplomates took an average of five years of study, which comprised intensive modules, self-study and on-the-job training. 72% are still involved in Bible Translation today. A further 175 students completed a number of modules they came to study.
