From April 28 to May 18, 2024, training took place in Huila, Lubango, Angola. This marks a milestone for Bible translation efforts in the region.

Twenty dedicated students participated in this first training session in the country. The training covered essential subjects, including: The process of Bible translation, Bible translation principles, Computer literacy and Digital literacy.
One of the students, Marcos, shared his inspiring experience:

“The first few days of classes were the hardest I’ve ever had, but with the constant encouragement of all the teachers who went through the training, my desire grew, and the desire to study the Principles and Processes of Bible Translation, and the desire to translate the Bible into my language grew.

The devotions and words of comfort meant that I didn’t leave the training the same as I did. Today, I feel different, especially in my way of looking at the Holy Scriptures. The training has given me the basis and ability to discover certain metaphors, omissions, parables and so many other ways that have changed my understanding.

I believe that I’m still learning a lot, and I hope to use this knowledge for the sake of the growth of the gospel and for the glory of the name of our God.”

This training session in Angola is just the beginning. As these students continue their journey, they are equipped to make a significant impact on their communities by making the Bible accessible in their heart languages.
